If you are noticing a trend with me posting videos 13 minutes apart and wearing the same clothes, you are onto something. This again stems from the boredom in Phoenix. At this point in my “Youtube career” I’m popping off as many videos as I can as fast as I can and playing all the songs I know to get content up. This is a great one that I used to play in college a lot. It really captures the event of meeting someone in a bar and where a lot of us end up after college. Enjoy!
This song was a direct result of being bored in Phoenix. I learned the song not one hour before posting it to Youtube. I played it a few times through part by part and what you are seeing is the first time I’d played it in its entirety. I thought my arm was going to fall off at the end of this video. There are so many downstrokes! I think it turned out nicely though.
You’ll hear me mention often that Hootie and the Blowfish is one of the greatest bands of all time. I can’t think of another band that can raise my spirits faster. I’d venture to say that it’s hard to be in a bad mood listening to a Hootie song. Even a depressing song like “Let Her Cry.” They are so melodic and well thought out. I tried to do Darius justice with this one. I can promise this is not the last Hootie cover.
I hope a few people are actually checking out this website as I’m working to get it up to date. It takes some time to get these posts all in there and get them chronologically. Again, I will be posting Mp3’s to this site as well. That will also take some time. a few videos I will rip straight from the video, others I will rerecord to get better quality. Thanks for all the support and hopefully you’ll have a fully functioning website in a few weeks that will have all the videos and Mp3’s from my nearly 50 videos. Thanks, Ryan
Ryan Burns original medley featuring My Girl, My Humps, Achy Breaky Heart, Remix to Ignition, Let’s Get It On that I have rightfully named “Remix to My Achy Breaky Humps for My Girl While We Get It On”
I have been working on this since around 2003 when I first learned guitar. I first realized that My Girl and Remix to Ignition were similar. I orginally played it in standard tuning using C and F as the chords for the verse. I then heard Eric Hutchinson play it at a show while I lived in Los Angeles for a summer. He threw in the My Humps part, so I’ll admit to stealing that. I also noticed he played the song with a capo on the 3rd fret. I found this fit my voice better so I continued playing the song in this arrangement from then on. Achy Breaky Heart and Let’s Get It On were last minute additions to this video post. In reality, I have a list a mile long of songs that fit this arrangement and I could probably play an entire show with this song on loop chronically several decades of music.
Again, this is showcasing my medley making abilities. I can’t wait to do more songs like this.
Now that the camera issues have been resolved, you can finally see me shine in this video. This might have been the first time I am comfortable recording. Keep in mind I don’t have editing software at this time so every video you see is raw footage in one take. I’ve recieved a lot of great feedback from this song since you can clearly see the guitar and strum pattern. Viewers learning the song for the first time can watch this video and come away with an understanding for how I play it.
This is one of my better covers. It’s a song you don’t hear a lot, but everyone knows. I watch a lot of live music at bars and concerts and I have never seen someone cover this. I think that makes it unique. It’s a beautiful song about tragedy but leaves a warm feeling in your heart after listening with the irony in the stories spoken through the lyrics.
Welcome to RYANBURNSROCKS.com. This site provides me with a central location to post videos and the stories that accompany them. It also gives me a chance to post more than videos and gives viewers a chance to learn more about me outside the video dialogues.
@ninjabetic I'm rocking the same thing on the ipod right now. I'm obsessed with the movie, too. They are in town Friday, I'm trying to go. 12 hours ago
